Microsoft has confirmed eight civilizations for Age of Empires 4, including English, Chinese, French, Rus, Holy Roman Empire, Abbasid Dynasty, Delhi Sultanate, Chinese and Mongols.
It has been noted that gameplay will reflect the natural evolution of these cultures. Language and dialect will change through the ages, as well as environmental design.
Some civilizations, such as English, will harbor classic Age of Empire mechanics, while the Mongol civilization will introduce more tailored mechanics to this new chapter.
Age of Empires 4 also has four, confirmed ages: the Dark Age, Castle Age, Feudal Age and Imperial Age.
Age of Empires 4 Gameplay
This fourth chapter of the strategy game will flaunt its hyper realistic environments with procedural maps.
Age of Empires 4 also has confirmed naval combat, and the ‘age-up’ mechanic from Age of Empires 3 will also be present.
Players will have a 200 unit cap, and hero units will only be present within campaigns. Mongols will have their own units named the ‘Mongol Khan’.
Ages of Empires 4 will offer four campaigns: Norman, 100 years war, Mongols and Rus, with 35 missions included.
Missions will be accompanied by over three hours’ worth of clips from real-life locations, layered with the game’s style. History will be presented with documentary flair this time round, with the narrative following various people.
