With each update in Apex Legends, a new Legend arrives to the arena. However, with each new Legend, the demand for more Legend Tokens increases. It can be frustrating earning Legend Tokens but there are ways of streamlining the process. Here’s how to get Legend Tokens fast in Apex Legends.
What are Legend Tokens?
Legend Tokens are a form of currency in Apex Legends. They have a few purposes but above and beyond all else they are used to unlock new Legends. Players start out with just six available characters to play and the remainder must all be unlocked using tokens.
Each new playable Legend costs 12,000 Legend Tokens to purchase. To unlock all playable Legends costs around 200,000 Legend Tokens which is going to take time to gather. Players who don’t want to grind tokens can unlock characters with Apex Coins, a currency purchased with real money.
Legend Tokens are also used to reroll daily challenges. Let’s say you receive a daily challenge to scan 20 enemies as Bloodhound but you don’t play Bloodhound. You can spend 200 Tokens to re-roll. If you get another challenge you don’t want to do it can be re-rolled again for a higher price.
The final use of Legend Tokens is to recolor legendary skins. If you already own a legendary skin you can purchase a unique variant for 10,500 Tokens. These recolored skins are purely cosmetic but are a fun way to customize your favorite character.
How to Get Legend Tokens in Apex
The most consistent way to obtain Legend Tokens is by leveling up. Every time you level up you will be rewarded 600 Legend Tokens. With each new Legend costing 12,000 tokens that equals a new Legend unlocked every twenty levels.
Since Legend Tokens are tied to leveling the best way to earn them quickly is to level up as fast as possible. Just playing casually will earn you new Legends over time but there are a couple of ways to speed things up.
Action required | Experience rewarded |
Win match | 900 XP |
Top 5 finish | 300 XP |
Time survived | 3 XP per second |
Get a kill | 50 XP |
Damage dealt | 0.25 XP per 1 damage |
Revive an ally | 25 XP |
Respawn an ally | 200 XP |
First kill of the day | 500 XP |
Kill the champion squad | 500 XP per member of champion squad |
Playing with a friend | +5% XP to time survived |
Playing with two friends | +10% XP to time survived |
There are several feats that reward experience but the most important ones are winning a match, finishing in the top 5, time survived, kills, and damage dealt. With how XP is designed it is usually better to survive than to try and net kills.
Also, by teaming up with a friend you can receive a further 5% XP bonus for a time survived. This increases to a 10% XP bonus if you are partied up with two friends.
At the end of the day though you should only prioritize survival if that’s how you enjoy playing the game. Those that like taking early fights shouldn’t avoid doing so just to level up a little faster. With enough playtime, you’ll be able to unlock all of the Legends eventually anyway.
