Season 5 of Apex Legends is finally here, and we have all of the details you need to know. From the new Legend, Loba, to the replacement of Skull Town, there have been a lot of changes in Kings Canyon. You can read the full patch notes here, but we’ve got the most important info below!
Lets start with the legends and, of course, we’ll kick it off with Loba!
Tactical – Burglar’s Best Friend
Teleport to hard-to-reach places or escape trouble quickly by throwing your Jump Drive bracelet.
Ultimate – Black Market Boutique
Place a portable device that allows you to teleport nearby loot to your inventory. Each friendly or enemy Legend can take up to two items.
Passive – Eye for Quality
Nearby epic and Legendary loot can be seen through walls.
The range is the same as Black Market Boutique.
Break Out the Nerf Guns and Buff Patches
The Apex roster had quite a bit of changes going into the new season.
Mirage had a total rework to make him a more viable pick.
Tactical: Psyche Out
Pressing the character utility action button allows Mirage to gain control of his decoy.
When controlling the decoy, it will mimic Mirage’s every move.
Decoys now last for 60 seconds.
Releasing another decoy will remove the previous decoy.
Ultimate: Life of the Party
Mirage deploys a team of decoys that mimic his every move (think “Emergency Dance Party” from DUMMIEs Big Day).
Cooldown 60 seconds.
Passive: Now You See Me…
In addition to cloaking when downed, Mirage also cloaks while using a respawn beacon and reviving a teammate (the teammate is also cloaked).
Bloodhound enjoys a nice buff to his tactical search.
Tactical: Eye of the Allfather
Increased Sonar Detection from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.
Decreased Cooldown from 35 seconds to 25 seconds.
Crypto had a change that makes communicating with your two teammates who are never in game chat a little easier.
Crypto can now ping banners, while in drone, to warn teammates of nearby squads.
Lifeline got an update that makes her loot bins more helpful.
Increased Lifeline bin ratio to 20%
Removed Knockdown Shields from Secret Compartment loot pool
Caustic is more of a team player but doesn’t have the door trap exploit anymore.
Friendly gas no longer slows teammates.
Caustic traps are no longer triggered from the other side of a door.
Octane has more changes in the works that we can expect to see in later updates, but here’s a start.
Launch Pad cooldown is reduced from 90 seconds to now 60 seconds.
Gibraltar took a little bit of a nerf in this patch.
Dome Shield duration is now 12s from 18s.
Pathfinder takes a big hit with this crippling nerf on his grapple cooldown.
Grappling hook cooldown now 35s from 15s.
Questing in the New Map
The quest of The Broken Ghost lets players get daily treasure packs and go on weekly hunts to unlock more in-game loot along with more lore! Weekly hunts send players into Kings Canyon at night with a simple mission: get in, get the artifact and get out alive.
Players will also notice some new changes around the map. The Salvage replaces the destroyed Skull Town and Thunderdome. In place of Relay and Wetlands, we now have the Offshore Rig and the Capacitor. Charge Towers have been introduced to the map as well. When the tower is activated, it will give all players standing near it a full ultimate charge.
The Tools of Destruction
This season, there will not be a new weapon, but there will be some shifts in their strength. The Apex devs did not want to saturate the game with guns or vault any that players bought skins for. Instead, there will be balance shifts in the existing guns. The Peacekeeper and Mastiff have swapped. The Mastiff is now a standard weapon and is weaker while the Peacekeeper is a care package only weapon with greater strength.
Alternator: Greater magazine capacity.
RE-45: Increased damage/reduced reload time
Havoc: Increased recoil
Longbow: Greater headshot damage
Wingman: Greater headshot damage
Anvil Receiver: Removed
Skull Piercer: Unvaulted
Gold Armor: Double shields/health gained from Shield Cells and Syringes, removed 50% heal speed
And there you have it, the most important Apex Season 5 notes. Now get out there and become the Apex Champion!
