It was originally announced on the 10th anniversary of the game in 2019, but the release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like the game on which it is based, Arcane is aimed at a “14+” audience and will deal with some more adult subject matter.
What we know of the story so far
The story would seem to revolve around the childhood of two well-known characters within the League of Legends universe: Vi and Jinx, telling the story from when they were both little girls wandering the streets of Piltover dreaming about inventions and crystals, but also recounting their misadventures as they become intertwined with possible Zaun’s evil devious machinations.
Arcane is set in the past compared to the in-game present in which we play, that is why in the original trailer we only see familiar faces (Jinx and Vi) as children. However in the new teaser we clearly see a furious Vi and a more calmer Jinx than we know her to be.. maybe before the calamity that turned her into the insane woman we know and have come to love.
Teaser and Trailer
The original trailer was released on October 2019, on the 10th anniversary celebration, and it shows two cities and three kids, that apparently are new or anonymous characters, however the new teaser clearly shows at least three champions we all know.
The new teaser, released today shows Jinx, Vi and, for a brief moment, what could be identified as Victor while they are fighting.. who knows what.. or who?
Arcane release date
As mentioned above, the series was supposed to be released in 2020, but due to the pandemic, it has been postponed to a date to be determined. However, today it was revealed that Arcane will be available this Autumn on Netflix.
