Spongebob Squarepant: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is making it’s way to mobile devices via the App Store and the Google Play Store later this month. Here’s all we know about it.
In recent months, THQ Nordic had put in the work remastering the 2003 cult classic: Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom. The Rehydrated version, fans will be glad to know, keeps almost exactly the same format. In a similar jump to the semi-recent Crash Bandicoot or Spyro remasters, though, it rightfully feels like an almost-new game.
The fact that Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is getting a mobile port is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. The game is regarded as cult classic; it didn’t necessarily do well critically during it’s 2003 launch, but the fans love it.
The spongetacular remake of this fan-favorite title will have players battle raging robots with bubble blasting abilities and show the evil Plankton once and for all that the secret formula belongs to no one other than Mr. Krabs himself. Play as SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy and use each one’s unique set of skills. Run, bounce, and underpants-bungee-jump through Bikini Bottom and meet countless characters from the beloved television series. The battle is on!

Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated added a brand-new two-player co-op horde mode through it’s console launch in June. It’s unsure as to whether this will be carried over to the mobile port of the title for semi-obvious reasons. Split-Screen is a little hard on a mobile phone.

Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is available for pre-register on the App Store and pre-order on the Google Play Store. The mobile port is being developed by HandyGames. It is scheduled to launch January 21 for a price equivalent of $9.99USD.
