In Black Ops Cold War, Zombies introduces Ammo Mods as another way you can take the fight back to the undead Nazis. These Ammo Mods come in handy while using Elemental Pop too. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
Ammo Mods, short for modifications, are Field Upgrades in Black Ops Cold War Zombies that change the way your bullets behave.
Primarily, an upgraded Ammo Mod combined with an upgraded Elemental Pop is the most effective way of using them. However, Ammo Mods can be purchased in-game from the robot-dummy on the edge of the Pack-A-Punch Chamber in Die Maschine.
When using Elemental Pop, you will need to upgrade this perk to Tier Three in order to fully utilize your Ammo Mod upgrades. Tier Three will, instead of applying the Base Tier Ammo Mod at random, apply the Ammo Mod at the current skill-level you have it unlocked as.
Ammo Mods are useful in a number of scenarios, particularly at increasing the efficiency at which you kill enemies. This is most useful during Exfil after round 10.
Cold War Zombies Ammo Mods Upgrades
Naplam Burst – Fire Bullets
At the base Tier, Naplam Burst adds fire damage to bullets. More specifically, each bullet has a chance to apply a burn effect on normal enemies that deals 10% of their maximum health in fire damage over 5 seconds.
At Tier One, the initial burn effect of Naplam Burst is improved to instantly deal 5% of the enemies’ maximum health in fire damage. This makes it much more useful at taking down enemies quickly.
At Tier Two, the burn duration is doubles and now lasts 10 seconds.
At Tier Three, the burn effect damage is doubled. This means it will now deal 20% of the enemies maximum health over ten seconds.
Naplam Burst has a three-second cooldown and only affects normal enemies. Not enemies like the Megaton.
Dead Wire – Shock Bullets
At the base Tier, Dead Wire adds an electric damage modification to your gun. With this, each bullet has a chance to stun normal enemies for two seconds.
At Tier One, Dead Wire adds an electrical field around stunned enemies. This deals electric damage to both the stunned enemies and nearby enemies for the duration of the stun.
At Tier Two, the stun duration is increased to 4 seconds. This also improves Tier One’s upgrade.
At Tier Three, the electric field damage is doubled. This makes Dead Wire an effective Ammo Mod for taking down large groups of enemies.
Dead Wire has a 15 second cooldown and unlocks at level 11. It also only affects normal enemies.
Cryofreeze – Frost Bullets
At the base Tier, Cryofreeze applies frost damage to your bullets. When affected, each bullet slows enemies by 30% of their run speed for 3 seconds. This can be useful in avoiding any faster enemies in the pack.
At Tier One, Cryofreeze adds an additional modification that means slowed enemies take 25% more damage.
At Tier Two, the duration an enemy is slowed is increased to 5 seconds.
At Tier Three, there is a further decrease to the slowed enemy speed. It is now 50%, halving the effective speed of normal enemies.
Cryofreeze has a cooldown of 3 seconds and unlocks at level 23. It also only effects normal enemies.
Brain Rot – Anti-Zombie Bullets
At the base Tier, Brain Rot deals toxic damage to normal enemies. This is combined with an added chance to turn a normal enemy into an ally for 15 seconds before dying.
At Tier One, the turned enemy explodes on death and deals toxic damage to nearby enemies.
At Tier Two, the duration a turned enemy is alive is increased to 20 seconds.
At Tier Three, the damage a turned enemy deals is doubled. This makes them much more effective at clearing out hordes from within.
Brain Rot has a cooldown of 40 seconds and is unlocked at level 48. It also only affects normal enemies.
