BMG x LCS : BMG Announced as Official Music Partner of LCS

Published:

It looks like the LCS is finally attempting to match its European rivals in terms of content. We had that energetic hype video to get fans excited for the LCS. And now, the LCS will finally match something the LEC has always had for quite a while now. With a BMG x LCS partnership, maybe we’ll get more songs worth looking for in LCS content.

If you’ve played League of Legends for a long while, or even just followed its esports scene, you can agree with me on one thing. The music produced for the game? Banger. KDA, True Damage, champion themes, skin themes, and who could ever forget their featured song every Worlds?

Riot has always delivered when it comes to their music. They’ve gone as far as to create customized playlists depending on your playstyle. The team even had their own theme song during MSI when Riot announced it would partner with Spotify for MSI.

For the LEC, they’ve had Warner Music as their music partner for 3 years in a row now. If you’ve watched their highlights videos, you’d agree that each song hypes the region up even more. As for the LCS, well, a BMG x LCS partnership might help match the numbers the LEC highlights videos reach.

To quote Matt Archambault, Head of Esports Partnerships for NA & OCE:

“At the LCS, and Riot overall, we’ve always appreciated the strong connection between gaming and music. Through our partnership with BMG, we’re excited to deepen that bond, and find creative ways to integrate their artists; music into the LCS broadcast experience, starting with our Summer Kickoff film ‘Ruled by One.’ We can’t wait to unveil the other performances and content we have planned for this summer, and beyond.”

As for their partnership with the LCS, here’s what Marian Wolf, VP Head of Global Writer Services & BMG China had to say :

“We are delighted to team up with LCS and create a unique convergence between music and esports. Our partnership opens the doors to endless possibilities for our artists and songwriters to highlight their exciting new releases, and showcase BMG’s extensive music catalogue on the digital platforms of one of the leading companies in esports.”

Aside from being the world’s fourth-biggest music company. BMG is also the first new global player in the music business of the streaming age. With a partnership with the LCS, we can expect the content from the LCS to reach levels its European rivals have been on for years.
