We’ve seen a matchup of titans in the lower bracket of the CDL Stage 3 Major today. Dallas Empire took on Optic Chicago in the eClasico.
Map 1: Garrison (Hardpoint)
After a technical issue where FormaL wasn’t able to see his mini-map and some tech pause semantics from C6, the Hardpoint on Garrison was underway. The game started off strong for the Texas franchise but after hitting the 50 point mark the boys from the Windy City amounted to a comeback and took a lead of 60 points on the second rotation going 71-131 to the way of OpTic. Dashy performing out of his mind going 35-19 by the end of the game which ended with a Chicago dominated game 250-151.
Map 2: Checkmate (Search and Destroy)
In the Search and Destroy, OpTic going in with the map 1 lead, Dallas was hoping to take this one to even the score out. To match that sentiment they started off the map with a defensive win with all 4 surviving and then after losing a round, Shotzzy came out with a massive 1v4 against the Chicago team.
After trading a good amount of rounds and a disconnect from FeLo coming in with a CDL first timeout, it ended up going to Round 11 where OpTic took the round to take the series 2-0 after a shaky Stage 3 start.
Map 3: Raid (Control)
Map 3 was a need for the Empire to try and get back into the series but (no pun intended) OpTic took control in the first round on the Black Ops 2 classic winning without dropping below 20 lives. The second round was a lot closer with Dallas taking the A point quickly but then the Chicago franchise took another 10 kill life lead winning the defence to take the map 2-0. Another fast push but this time from OpTic took A point quickly but then a massively clutch retake on the Tiki Bar gave Empire some confidence to win the 3rd round and bring the map closer. A repeat of 3 rounds in a row of Dallas taking A point quickly came down to a trading of lives and OpTic holding onto the B site and taking map control and series control winning 3-1.
With OpTic taking the series strongly and eliminating their oldest rivals they moved on to the 4th round of the Lower Bracket. Does OpTic look better than their Stage 3 usual self? Do you think OpTic can take their first gold of the Call of Duty League Cold War season?
