Coldzera Benched From FaZe Clan’s Active Roster

Coldzera Benched From Faze Clan

Brazilian CS:GO pro, Marcelo “coldzera” David has officially revealed that he has been moved to FaZe Clan’s bench, following their last-place finish at Flashpoint 3. This is the first time since joining FaZe Clan in 2019 that coldzera will be out of the roster’s active lineup. With coldzera benched, the CS:GO community has already begun speculation on the future of FaZe Clan, and who will fill in the empty spot left behind by cold.

Coldzera moves to the bench

In a short Twitter post, the Brazilian explained “After the boot camp with all the results that we had recently and because my time on faze is expiring soon I move to the bench to analyse new options for the future,” He finished by writing “I would like to say thanks to FaZe and wish a gl for my teammates.”

FaZe Clan has not found much success in quite some time. This has also led to the organization making several roster changes in the past year, with the newest additions being Russel “Twistzz” Dulken and Finn ‘karrigan” Andersen.

The roster has now had 3 months to try to fit in the new pieces under the new leadership, but with their latest result of 13-16th place at Flashpoint 3, it was clear that changes had to be made once again.

Possible Replacements

It is still unclear who FaZe Clan have in mind to sign, but their main piece may not be acquired just yet. They still have to complete their active roster for the upcoming BLAST Spring Final 2021. FaZe do still have Olof “olofmeister” Gustafsson, and Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye on their bench, but rumours suggest that olofmeister has been practising with the team, in place of coldzera.

The last time the FaZe Clan roster looked to have promising results was during IEM Katowice 2021, where they placed 9-12th after eliminating OG but falling to FURIA, where they managed to take one map in the series.

FaZe fell flat at Flashpoint 3, getting only two map wins and garnering only 250 RMR points. They quickly fell to the lower bracket after a 2-1 loss against the tournament’s eventual third placer: G2 Esports. They then got eliminated at last place by Sprout during the first round of the lower bracket.

This may have been the final sign for FaZe, as Coldzera is one of only three players who have been ranked by HLTV as the top player of the year, twice. The first was for his 2016 season, and the second was for his 2017 season. But with the recent changes, it can be said that he can no longer be that star factor, at least with FaZe Clan.

The FaZe Clan roster is now:

  • Håvard “rain” Nygaard
  • Helvijs “broky” Saukants
  • Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  • Finn “karrigan” Andersen
  • Robert “RobbaN ” Dahlström – Coach
  • Marcelo “coldzera” David [Benched]
  • Olof “olofmeister” Gustafsson [Benched]
  • Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye [Benched]
