CS:GO: FunPlus Phoenix signs ChrisJ on a loan

FunPlus Phoenix ChrisJ

Following his benching on Mousesports, ChrisJ will start the 2021 season on a loan to FunPlus Phoenix, completing their brand new line-up.

Following the official reveal of their international team on Monday, FunPlus Phoenix has announced this Tuesday the addition of Chris ‘ChrisJ’ De Jong on a loan, with the Dutch player taking over the In-Game Leader role.

After many months of speculation, the Chinese organisation signed the former GODSENT roster, which has been one player shy since Kevin ‘kRYSTAL’ Amend was moved to the bench in November of last year.

The squad had tested Luka ‘emi’ Vuković as a replacement for the German In-Game Leader for the last leg of 2020, but ultimately, the Serbian player didn’t make the cut once the team transitioned over to the FPX.

ChrisJ has had a considerable experience in the IGL seat during his seven-year tenure with the organisation, having most recently been moved away from the role after the addition of Finn ‘Karrigan’ Andersen on Mousesports.

The German organisation had announced last week that the veteran would be moving towards the bench following the transfer of Frederik ‘AcoR’ Gyldstrand from MAD Lions, which will be taking over the AWP on this new iteration of Mousesports.

After a bitter 2020 in terms of his performance, ChrisJ will be hoping to branch out into some new pastures after his long time with Mouz, linking up with a former teammate from 2017 to 2018 in Martin ‘STYKO’ Styk.

This brand new FunPlus Phoenix line-up will have its debut this Wednesday, for the Group Stage of DreamHack Open January.
