Natus Vincere kick off the year with a major triumph at BLAST Premier Global Finals, taking down Astralis to secure the bigger share of the 1 million dollar prize pool.
Natus Vincere will secure BLAST Premier Global Finals 2020 after two Best-of-Three series separated by a one hour break. Up against all odds, the CIS squad managed to upset the Danes of Astralis with a swift 2-0 victory, taking down one of their biggest rivals in the first big event of the year.
The team started this Sunday facing Team Vitality in the Lower Bracket, on a tooth-and-nail series that went all three maps and took around 4 hours to complete. By the time the dust had settled, Natus Vincere found themselves in the BLAST Premier Global Grand-Finals.
Starting off the series on Nuke, Natus Vincere came off to a great start, conquering a one-round lead towards the end of the first half of the game. With teams switching sides, Aleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev would wreak havoc with the AWP, dashing Na’Vi into a 14-9 scoreline.
Two back to back 1v2 clutch from Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander and Emil ‘Magisk’ Reif would extend the game, but two force-buys from Natus Vincere would help them convert their own map pick, 16-12.
The Danes of Astralis still had to their map pick of Inferno to come back into the series. After a scrappy start, the In-Game Leader for Natus Vincere, Kirill ‘Boombl4’ Mikhailov, powered his team to a double-digit half with 19 kills to his own.
Grabbing the pistol round, Natus Vincere was quick to climb to match-point, with the Danish roster being unable to show any signs of resistance. With the power duo of s1mple and Boombl4 firing on all cylinders, Astralis had no chance at conquering a single round on the second half, with Na’Vi closing the map and the series on a 16-5.
