Fans will know that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to have a lot of inappropriate content, thankfully censorship options have been recently outlined by CD Projekt Red if you’re not about that life. Here’s everything you need to know about that.
Any fan of a CD Projekt Red game will know that they’re not child-friendly. The Witcher III features grossly-exagerrated violence and spots of sexual content if you bring up the famed “Unicorn Scene”. Cyberpunk 2077 though, looks like it’s going to blow this out of the water.
As a commentary on the decadence and frivolous nature of modern society, as cyberpunk-themed media often is, Cyberpunk 2077 looks like it’s going to lean heavily into this sexually explicit content in a number of ways.
Thankfully, CD Projekt Red are preparing for every eventuality and have discussed how people can avoid this by utilising the censorship options outlined in Cyberpunk 2077.
When asked via Twitter, CD Projekt Red QA Lead Lukasz Babiel was asked about this by a fan. His response, and the question, was directly about in-game nudity. However, there are often already pre-established options to reduce or turn off gory content. So, I can imagine Cyberpunk 2077 will also include this.
Cyberpunk 2077 Censorship Options Important For Accessibility
If there’s one positive to take away from all this, it’s the fact that CD Projekt Red seem to be continuing the slowly-advancing trend of better accessibility options in video games.
In terms of nudity, this was probably also done with region-specific regulatory expectations… However, it’s an important inclusion nonetheless. Cyberpunk 2077 also reportedly offers players a lot more fluidity when it comes to their character creation.
Customisable breasts, buttocks, and genitalia are all reportedly included in V’s customisation options.
While sexuality is not defined by physical traits, Cyberpunk 2077 will allow players to be transgender if early reports are to be believed. Obviously, the extent of this can only truly be judged once the game has been released and is in the hands of the consumer. However, it seems to be an important step in the right direction.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which released recently, also included a Non-Binary option when choosing the gender of the campaign’s protagonist, Bell.
How do you feel about the upcoming censorship options for Cyberpunk 2077? Is this going to make you more-likely to pick it up? Let us know in the comments.
