As we near the release of the hotly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, we now have some news about Cyberpunk 2077 DLC too! This will be in the same vein as The Witcher 3’s DLC.
Everytime I see the word Cyberpunk pop up on my feed, I assume it’s Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed again. Thankfully, this time, it was in regards to something pretty great. Cyberpunk 2077 DLC will reportedly be free.
When asked if their new title will support a similar DLC trend to Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red responded with a GIF of the Kool-Aid Man saying “Oh yeah!” So if that isn’t confirmation… I don’t know what is.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Strategy Following On Successes Of Witcher 3
Last year, John Mamai was talking with Gamespot about DLC options for the game. When asked about the continuation of Witcher 3’s DLC strategy, he said the following:
“ The previous strategy was a good model for us; it worked pretty well for The Witcher 3. I don’t see why we wouldn’t try to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077… We’re not talking about that yet, but it seems like that would be the smart way to go.”
In regards to Witcher 3, this likely means that Cyberpunk 2077 will add a fair bit of free cosmetic DLC alongside paid story expansions. We may not see a Temerian Armor Set pack, but the Beard and Hairstyle Set seems like something that we may see. Alternate appearances for side-characters could be another DLC we see, or perhaps the odd smaller side-mission.
Cyberpunk 2077 is due to release this November for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also get a free upgrade to next gen consoles when they release!
