It’s a slightly baffling decision, given the fact that CDPR’s futuristic shooter was lamented for its poor graphical performance on launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is getting an officially sponsored photo contest.

It’s a generic-enough set-up that should offer people a lot of freedom to explore Night City and it’s inhabitants. Be sure to follow the hashtag in the coming week to see everyone’s work!
In the Virtual Photography community amongst those who communicate on Social Media platforms, contests are regularly run amongst those who participate. They don’t always have an actual prize, but it helps to focus the community and brings an organisation and discourse that only helps it grow.
In addition to this, some media outlets also collate their own lists of impressive captures of the week. PlayStation, in particular, is known to champion the creative use of Photo Mode features in their titles.
It’s a fantastic step in the right direction in further legitimising those who devote so much of their talent and time to Virtual Photography. However, you have to wonder… Is Cyberpunk 2077 the best game to do it at the moment?
