Cyberpunk 2077: Map Districts Guide

Cyberpunk 2077 Controller

After months of delays, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally coming on December 10th. The latest game from CD PROJEKT RED promises to be their best yet. The company is best known for The Witcher series, and this is the first game that has been developed with no connection to The Witcher series.

The physical version of Cyberpunk 2077 will come with a map of the Night City and an image of it has now leaked online. Overall the map looks a little bit more smaller than expected, but CD Projekt Red did state that the game would be ‘slightly shorter than The Witcher 3’, so this does make sense.

Night City is a ‘a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification.’ The city is made up of various districts, each with their own unique look, as well as unique, weird, and wonderful characters to meet along the way. These districts are:

  • Watson
  • City Center
  • Heywood
  • Pacifica
  • Westbrook
  • Santo Domingo
  • Badlands

Here is a breakdown on what to expect from each of these districts.

Watson used to have it all. Nightclubs, skyscrapers, corporate offices, a top-end medcenter — but economic disaster put an end to all that. Now, it’s known as ‘the bad neighborhood of Night City’. The kinda place that suits gangs like Maelstrom and Tyger Claws down to the ground.

City Center

Filled with modern, cutting-edge architecture, City Center is where you can witness the unrivaled might of megacorps in all its arrogance. This is where the rich and overworked spend their lives, building Night City’s economic power.

You might hear this district referred to as “the biggest bedroom in Night City.” Rightfully so – most of the Night City lives here, including corporations and the government sector. For the regular folk Heywood is pretty much the last option before Pacifica or the industrial wasteland of the Badlands.

The great restoration of Night City saw the ruins removed and replaced by Asian corporations. What was once one of the city’s worst Combat Zones, was revived into an exclusive, ultra-secure area.

Once, Pacifica was designed to be a vacation hotspot within the city, a paradise to attract corporate employees and tourists with golden sandy beaches, luxurious hotels, and unlimited entertainment. Pacifica was a dream thrown together by some wealthy individuals who wanted to stimulate the economic recovery and make money on tourism. That dream did not realize itself.

Santo Domingo

Stuck in the desperate, cramped living conditions, Santo Domingo’s people learned to constantly wish for something better. Disillusioned by the Night City’s efforts to protect the area, the 6th Street Gang organized around the values of serving and protecting the local community. Since then something has changed…

Night City doesn’t officially recognize the Badlands as its seventh district, but people who made this place their home certainly do. Amidst derelict oilfields, rotting eastern landfills irrigated by acid rain, and the southern desert many clans scavenge for resources and golden opportunities.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on November 19th on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and GoG.
