Daymare 1998 was released on PC in September 2019, but now we have an official release date for console……kinda.
For those of you who don’t know the backstory of Daymare 1998, the game was originally a fanmade Resident Evil 2 Remake. However, as you know, Capcom decided to finally remake Resident Evil 2, causing Invader Studios to shut down the project at Capcom’s request. Apparently, though, Capcom didn’t demand it be shut down, but rather, more politely asked that they stop working on it. But Capcom were so impressed with what this small team from Italy had created that they invited the team to Japan to show them what Capcom were doing with Resident Evil 2 and to help them make their RE2 Remake into an original IP which they could continue development. This eventually morphed into Daymare 1998. Pretty cool story.
Since its release on PC (via Steam), fans have been asking when they can get a slice of 90s survival on Xbox One and PS4. Well, today, Invader Studios finally gave us that answer by announcing (via Facebook) that the game will be released on PS4 & Xbox One in Q1 2020, but also gave a release date of February 20th, 2020 in Japan, the same date Capcom are releasing Devil May Cry 3 on the Nintendo Switch.
Since Q1 runs from January 1st, 2020 to March 31st, 2020, it means we will get Daymare 1998 on console in the West within a month either side of the Japan release date, so we haven’t got long to wait now.
