A fair few Destiny 2 players are struggling to figure out how to complete Torch the Taken. It’s one of the new Solstice 2022 Event Card challenges and, in typical Bungie fashion, it’s unnecessarily ambiguous and complicated. The challenge simply tells you to “Defeat Taken in Bonfire Bash.” What kind of Taken, though?

I’m going to run through how to complete Torch the Taken in Destiny 2, including what Taken the challenge is referring to, and how many runs of Bonfire Bash it’ll take you to get the challenge done.

To complete Torch the Taken in Destiny 2 – You need to kill 20 of the Major Taken enemies that spawn in during the Interference section of Bonfire Bash. This happens twice per run.

Yeah, how Bungie thought any of us would immediately figure that out is beyond me. All the same, let’s talk a little bit more in-depth about the Torch the Taken challenge.

When Destiny 2 says “Defeat Taken in Bonfire Bash”, it means defeat specific Taken. The Torch the Taken challenge only applies to the Taken Majors that appear during the Interference sections of Bonfire Bash.

This happens twice per run – you’ll know when it happens because your objective will change. Instead of throwing Ignition Charges on the fire, you’ll be sent to destroy a Taken Blight that spawns on the outskirts of the map.

If you managed to figure that out, you might think that destroying the Taken Blight is what counts for the Torch the Taken challenge. You’d be wrong. Instead, the enemies that the challenge actually refers to are the Majors that spawn in with these blights. These are typically Wizards or a major from another race.

There tends to be two or so of these per Interferance, with two Interferences per run. So, in total, you can get four points towards finishing Torch the Taken in one playthrough of Bonfire Bash. So, at a minimum, it will take you five runs to complete the challenge if you kill all four Majors every single time.

That’s it. That’s how to complete Torch the Taken in Destiny 2. It’s really simple, although you would never know that with how Bungie words some of its challenges. Regardless, hopefully, this guide helped you fill out that challenge in your Event Card.
