Cloudstrike, the new Exotic Sniper Rifle in Destiny 2, is now available to unlock and add to your collections, but how to obtain Cloudstrike you ask? Well, I’m here to tell you!
After Luminous claimed World First for clearing the Deep Stone Crypt Raid, they unlocked a lot of post-campaign missions and storylines for Beyond Light. It also unlocked certain Exotics that had been missing since the launch of Beyond Light, including the Exotic Sniper Rifle “Cloudstrike”.
Cloudstrike is an Exotic Sniper Rifle with the Exotic Intrinsic Trait “Mortal Polarity.” Mortal Polarity says “precision final blows generate a lightning bolt at the target’s location.” The secondary perk is “Stormbringer” which creates a lightning storm activated by hitting multiple-precision shots, which is great for boss damage. On paper, both of these perks make the weapon sound great in both PvE and PvP, and from what it seems it is. One precision kill on an enemy Guardian generates a lightning storm that can wipe an entire enemy team if they’re close enough to the target. So maybe stay away from your team as much as possible.
So how do you actually get the gun? Well, you’ve got to first unlock the ability to purchase and complete Empire Hunts from Variks on Europa.
After you unlock this, then you will be able to unlock a couple of nodes from Variks called Europan Explorer I and II, unlocking both of these will grant you access to an Empire Hunt “playlist” where you can farm Empire Hunts without needing to purchase them for the Europan currency Herealways Pieces. This Empire Hunt Playlist also has different levels of difficulty which increases the recommended Power level, more modifiers, and even champions, sort of like the same system as Nightfall Ordeals. Cloudstrike is a rare reward from any difficulty of Empire Hunt in this playlist, so if you’re looking for a new sniper to play with, then get to farming these Empire Hunts!
