Destiny 2 on Next-Gen Consoles Will Get Field of View Slider

In a blog post this morning, Bungie revealed some information about Destiny 2 on next-gen consoles and players should be pretty excited about some of the updates.

Not only are next-gen consoles, including Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 getting resolution updates, with Series X and PS5 being able to play Destiny 2 at 4k resolution with 60fps and Series S capable of performing at 1080p with 60fps, but the major update for console players is the addition of a Field of View Slider. Console players on Xbox and PlayStation have been begging Bungie to add a Field of View Slider to the game, but there has been no word from Bungie until now with the upcoming release of next-generation consoles.

“We are offering Field of View customization on consoles for the first time. Our goal is to enable a FOV range similar to that on PC. We’re currently testing these settings to ensure smooth performance across each platform and will have additional details closer to launch.”

As Bungie hopes, this change to the game will hopefully bring Destiny 2 on consoles up to par with the game on PC, as PC players have had access to Field of View and many other options that console players are unable to change, since the launch of the game in 2017.

Players who plan on playing the game on next-gen consoles will also be happy to know that Bungie will be upgrading copies of Destiny 2 to next-gen for free. This means that if you own the game on current-gen (including Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and PlayStation 4), you will not need to purchase the game again, you will only need to purchase any expansions that you do not yet currently own.

If you don’t currently own Destiny 2, now is the perfect time to jump in and experience the space-themed looter shooter, whether you want it or not...and make sure to check out the new expansion Beyond Light when it releases on November 10.
