Destiny 2: What to Spend Glimmer On?

Updated:

So you want to know what to spend Glimmer on? When it comes to an online free-to-play FPS multiplayer game like Destiny, the currency is extremely important. Like many valuable resources, it’s best to spend them wisely. Here’s what you should be spending your glimmer on in Destiny 2.

Buying from vendors

This one is a bit of the obvious. There are numerous vendors scattered across Destiny 2, and while most of them don’t have much good stuff, some will occasionally have amazing items. Some of those items are required if you want to progress further in the game.

All of the vendors in the Tower require you to spend glimmer before you can access their services. So save up on those or you will find yourself needing to farm glimmer often.

Purchase bounties

If you’ve been playing Destiny 2, you’ll know it’s been a double-edged sword to gain light. While purchasing bounties are one of the most efficient ways of gaining light, it has also become one of the only ways to gain light levels on Destiny 2.

Why you should spend glimmer on Bounties?

Bounties are a great way to get really good rewards that will help you progress in the game. Rewards like the enhancement cores and legendary shards will prove to become extremely valuable as you play on.

You can purchase bounties from most Vendors and will cost around 5000 glimmers.

Upgrading your Gear

If you are relatively new to Destiny 2, then you may not be aware of how important it is to upgrade your gear. Upgrading your gears will not only add more mod slots to it but also increase its stats. An upgraded gear can become extremely valuable as the stats continue to increase. You can upgrade all the gears that you get from the game. You can masterwork the gears to increase the stats, which are permanent. It’s a solid investment.

Why you should spend glimmer on upgrading gear?

The process of upgrading and masterworking your gears in Destiny 2 does not come cheap. It does require a bit of resource, which includes glimmer. You are required to pay a glimmer cost in addition to using your enhancement materials to masterwork gear.

While upgrading gears can present a good advantage to you because of the increased stats, it is not recommended for players who are just starting out. This is because there are only some weapons and armor that are worth upgrading. The worst thing you can do as a beginner is investing too early in the wrong gear and use up all of your resources.

Tip: The bonuses that are provided by masterworking gears are important to certain activities such as ranked crucible and raids. So be mindful of your resources.
Keep in mind that upgrading your gears will cost a LOT of glimmer. So start saving up, but it will be worth it.

Add mods to your gear

While we’re on the topic of gears, let’s dive into the mods for gears. No, we aren’t talking about the Minecraft mods. There is a host of mods that are available in Destiny 2, with each of them having its own applications to your weapons and armor. Some can assist with faster reload times, ammo storage, finding ammo, scatter projectile targeting, and more. All the armors in Destiny 2 can be equipped with mods that will improve their stats.

Destiny 2 does have seasonal mods that can really change the way you would play the game. It is always a good idea to keep checking on the changes that are happening in the game so you are always caught up.

This is another great way to increase your stats to improve your chances while playing. If you are thinking of getting some mods for your gear, you will require the mod itself and some glimmer. It isn’t the cheapest either, so you should definitely save up those glimmer for a tactical spending spree.

Note: Every time you apply a new mod or remove an existing one, you will be required to spend a glimmer. Make sure you are sure about applying your mods before you do it or else you will find yourself spending a lot of glimmers.
