After an unfortunate loss against Team Liquid, we spoke with Dignitas’ ADC Toàn “Neo” Trần. With only three weeks left to go this split, Neo gives us his insight on how Dignitas and the rest of the LCS are performing in the 2021 Summer Split.
Below is the transcript of the interview with Neo. In bold are our questions, while Neo’s answers are in a standard font.
This is your second split playing with Aphromoo, I was wondering what that experience has been like for you. What have you learned from him?
For me, as the player working with him, when I make a mistake, he’ll come to me and tell me what to do exactly so it doesn’t happen next time.
Is that in lane issues, like he’ll come to you if you make a mistake in lane?
No, it’s just macro.
How has the team been with all changes. I won’t ask you to speak on the departing members, but what has the addition of Akaadian been likefor you?
We were already playing before, we were on the same academy team last year so it’s not… we’re doing well right now.
This is the second day of the week, how are you thinking about the week so far, and the weeks coming up?
This week is a little bit rough on us because we made a play at the middle team fight and failed.
Today you played against Cloud9, and you were laining against Zven and Vulcan, how was that experience for you?
I think for me, I am excited to play against Zven and Vulcan. I was having fun 2 vs 2.
Looking at team performance, how does your scrim performance compare to your on stage performance?
I mean it’s the same for us. For scrims and on stage. Nothing different.
Looking at the champions in the bot lane, we’ve seen Aphelios, Tristana from last split and Xayah, are there any champions that you think are really strong that you haven’t been able to play on stage yet?
I think it’s going to be Kaalista and Aphelios, maybe Ezreal too.
Even with the nerfs to Divine Sunderer, is Ezreal still that strong?
I still think Ezreal is still really strong, even though they nerfed the item.
Looking at the rest of the league, recently Upcomer rated 100 Thieves in the top eight in the world. What is your reaction to that and what are your thoughts on the strength of the LCS in general?
I think 100 Thieves are a strong team, their bot lane is just kinda strong.
When you look at yourself specifically, and you see your improvement from the beginning of the Spring Split to now, is there anything from your play that really stands out as an improvement?
Yes, definitely. My micro and macro.
Is there anything you hope to improve moving forward?
I need to have better communication, like in teamfights.
When you’re talking about team fighting, it seems really chaotic as well with the new items like Stridebreakerslowing you in a team fight and not realizing half the time, do you think there are too many actives in the game right now or is the game in a really good place item wise?
I think it is in a very good spot. I think Stridebreaker is broken, because when you use it, you can not move.
How has the team morale been since the beginning of Summer Split till now?How is the team feeling looking to the rest of the split?
Since the beginning of Summer Split, there has been a lot that has happened for us, about our roster, but right now I think we are just trying to improve and move forward every time we lose.
