UPDATE: Twitter user @Slasher has reported that it is not a DMCA-related ban. More to come.
The High Octane streamer DrDisrespect has once again been banned. The Doc, a popular streamer who plays FPS titles with high-tier gameplay, has been flagged with a ban today from StreamerBans. The only question is what could have led to one of the most popular personalities on the platform to be banned.
While the Doc has had his account suspended before due to a bathroom IRL stream issue at TwitchCon, there is no clear explanation for why this is happening. It is possible that DrDisrespect may have been in violation of the recent DMCA strikes that have been hitting streamers. His playlist of synth music most likely has licensed songs which can lead him to receiving a strike. Aside from the issue of music, there doesn’t seem to be a reason for his ban.
While the Doc has been silent on this, other streamers are voicing their concern.

If this is the case and DrDisrespect used music regardless of the DMCA threats, then that may be the reason. But without any comment from the Doc himself, or the transparent Twitch Moderation Staff, it’s up in the air. Twitch has been banning streamers who have a history of sexual misconduct and abuse. But as it stands, there is no evidence or claims that the Doc is linked to this behavior. If this is the case of a DMCA violation, it should come as a warning to all streamers that no matter how big you are, you are still at risk if you play licensed music.
