DreamHack is making a leap into competitive Fortnite with the DreamHack Open featuring Fortnite to launch this summer. The completely open format will host monthly tournaments from now through January 2021, with $250,000 up for prize each month.
The event will be on European and North American servers. The competition is purely online and open to anyone who wants to compete. It starts with a solo tournament from July 17 through 26.
In each tournament, each player can play 10 games during a 3-hour heat, with the top 250 players from each heat advancing to the semifinals. The semis will also have the same 10 game span, with 100 players advancing to the finals. Grand Finals will see 8 consecutive games at scheduled times to declare a winner.
Heat 1 starts at 17:00 CEST on July 17 in the Europe servers while NA East starts at 5 p.m. EST. NA West starts at 5 p.m. PST on July 24. The European and NA East tournaments will run through July 19, while the NA West tournament will run through July 26.
Players can sign up for both heats in hopes of making the finals, which will be live on DreamHack’s Twitch channel.
