Dutch Youtuber Faces Backlash After Downplaying Depression

Paul Goudsmid, a Dutch YouTuber, is facing serious backlash after a clip from one of his recent streams has been called out. In the clip, Goudsmid downplays depression and says that people with suicidal thoughts should just jump from a bridge. It’s not the first time that he has received heavy criticism for things he says on his stream.

During the stream, one of his viewers asked Goudsmid’s opinion on the recent events in the streaming community. Goudsmid, who streams under the TheKing77nl name, went on to say that “you have to get something from your life. That’s the message I’ve been trying to spread to my viewers for years now. It’s up to you. If you’re struggling with depression and feel like jumping off a bridge? I won’t encourage it, but if you really feel like it… Just go ahead and do it.”

Goudsmid goes on to add that his viewers have to “Stay true to yourself, and never try to hurt someone. I know that. I never do that. But all this recent talk about depression, it angers me. Everybody wants to… Get raped, be depressed…. Fuck that. Man up and do something with your life.”
