DWG KIA Press Conference – Mid-Season Invitational Finals

Updated:

After losing their spot to Korea as the best region in the world, China reclaimed their place after seeing their representative Royal Never Give Up win the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational by taking down DWG KIA in five games in the MSI 2021 finals.

The Worlds 2020 champions came so close to winning against the LPL representatives but fell short at the final hurdle. As a team, DWG KIA gives us some insight into why they came up short in the finals.

Written below is the transcript of the interview with the team. In bold font are the questions from the media, while in the standard font are the team’s answers.

Directed to Showmaker, “In Game Number 2, you locked in Xerath, and the moment you locked it in, you had a huge smile on your face. Was Xerath your secret weapon for the finals?

I just picked Xerath because I wanted to play it.

Directed to Canyon, “In the post-match interview with Dash, Wei said you were a perfect jungler. I’d like to know your thoughts on Wei as a jungler, and how you found the match-up today.”

I think Wei is also a perfect and flawless jungle player, and today, we just played the role we were required to do according to our picks, but at the same time, I think I lost because I was not playing to the highest level.

Directed to Kkoma, “This is your first term as a coach for Damwon KIA, and obviously you have coaching experience in the past. What will you be taking away from this series for your summer run in LCK, and a potential Worlds run?”

Today, we were not able to get the win because we were not good enough. So I think we have to work on the issues that we saw in order to prepare for the summer split and also Worlds. And I really wish we could win in the next shot.

Directed to Kkoma, “What was the most regretful moment or point that happened in today’s Best ot 5 series?”

There was a lot, but in order to pick one, I think it was the first death that happened in the last game.
