Electronic Software Association has announced that E3 will be making a return after being cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taking part in the #ThanksToVideoGames hashtag, E3 revealed that it will be back. The event was originally scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles but was ultimately cancelled. Sony were already planning on not attending the event while other companies such as Microsoft have said they will experiment with digital events throughout the rest of 2020, so if E3 comes back next year, there might not be the same need for it that there once was.
It will be interesting to see how E3 does return in 2021 and whether it will still be the three-day large-scale event that it once was or whether companies will opt to do their own dedicated digital events like companies are doing this year.
