The esports division of the Turkish football club Fenerbahçe S.K. has announced this Tuesday that they would re-enter VALORANT esports, with the signing of an 11 man roster.
Playing under the banner of 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports, this line-up comes as the result of months spent in trials and auditions, where more than 600 players fought for a spot in the squad.
Fenerbahçe Esports had its debut in VALORANT earlier in 2021, by acquiring the former Sangal Esports roster. However, poor results in the regional Challengers would doom the squad and eventually lead to its disbandment.
Despite struggling at the EMEA Playoffs, Turkish teams like Futbolist, Oxygen Esports and BBL Esports have managed to upset some of the best European teams at the event, proving that there is plenty of talent in the region.
However, none of their former elements will make a return for this brand-new double-digit squad. Instead, Cino, Shalz, Skyress, Flexible, Elite, 4woodanet, Fabrien, Soyer, Gurler1st, Scat and Acedia will be the faces inside the server.
It is still unknown how the team will accommodate all these players in official matches. Although we could see specific players play specific agents on certain maps, it is an unlikely solution.
With some of these talents being as young as 16, it is very likely that we will see these players divided between main and academy teams. However, given Riot’s crackdown on secondary teams, it is likely that Fenerbahçe will try to settle for the main core as soon as possible.
For this effect, the Turkish club will rely on its four staff members – Omit, Epic, ANG and Reen – to test out different line-ups and remove pieces of its line-up as we move towards the end of the year and the final stages of the 2021 VCT competitive circuit.
