Eternal Return Rank System Explained

A unique blend of battle royale mechanics packed into a MOBA shell, Eternal Return is one of the most refreshing experiences you can have on PC right now. With tons of mechanics to learn, it’s a very competitive game. Want to know where you stand in terms of skill? Here’s everything you need to know about the Eternal Return Ranks.

What Are the Ranks in Eternal Return?

Eternal Return, just like many MOBAs uses an ELO and MMR-based system to rank its players. The ranks are split into eight different divisions, each with four subdivisions between them. Only the two highest divisions are not split by subdivisions and are instead split by a traditional ladder system.

The twist is that unlike popular games of the genre like League of Legends, the MMR is not an “unknown” to the players. In fact, it is well known and shown how many league points are needed to surpass each rank.

The ranks in Eternal Return are:

  • Iron IV – I (0-400 LP)
  • Bronze IV – I (400-800 LP)
  • Silver IV – I (800-1200 LP)
  • Gold IV – I (1200-1600 LP)
  • Platinum IV – I (1600-2000 LP)
  • Diamond IV – I (2000-2400 LP)
  • Titan (Over 2400 LP)
  • Immortal (Top 250 Players on the server)

To advance the ladder, players need to earn league points. LPs are earned by winning games. There is a number of factors that determines how many LPs you gain (or lose) at the end of a match. The most important is your performance. How many kills did you get and what place did you finish in. Other factors to consider are the MMR of enemy players and MMR of teammates.

Demoting and Decay

Another very important part of your ranked journey in Eternal Return is demoting. As with any competitive game, you are inevitably going to go on a losing streak. It’s very important to know that you lose points if you finish very low, and you may demote to lower tiers based on how much MMR you lose.

Demoting affects end-of-season rewards the most, as it does not take into account the highest rank you reached in the season. It will give you rewards based on the rank you have when the season ends.

Additionally, high-level players can demote by decay. Diamond or above players will start to lose LP each day after 15 days of not playing. So if you reach high ELO, make sure you’re keeping up your rank.

End of Season Rewards in Eternal Return

The rank cycles in Eternal Return are seasonally based. With each season lasting for roughly two-three months. At the end of each season, players are given rewards based on where they finished.

There are a lot of amazing and exclusive rewards that can be earned by playing ranked in Eternal Return. The biggest reward players can get is the exclusive skin that every player above Gold elo is granted at the end of the season.

Here are all the rewards that players who participated in the rank season get at the end (based on last season):

  • Ranked Border (Iron – Immortal) – Division Based
  • Exclusive Skin (Gold+)
  • Exclusive Emote (Gold +)
  • Animated Exclusive Emote (Platinum+)
  • 500NP – Premium Currency (Diamond)
  • 1000 NP – Premium Currency (Titan, Immortal)

Eternal Return ranked is one of the most competitive experiences you can get. Players are constantly trying to one-up each other with crazy builds and inventive tactics. If you’re interested in becoming a competitive player, there is also a growing esports scene that has been embraced by the developers.

Another important thing you should know is that there are different ranks for each queue type. All solo, duo, and squad have different ranks and queues. If you want to play with your friends, make sure they match your rank and MMR.

Finally, if you’re going all-in for the rewards, make sure you’re ready to grind. Climbing the ranks is no easy feat. But, above all, playing the game should still be about having fun.
