Eternal Return: How to Level Fast

Published:

In Eternal Return, you are left all by yourself to fight other experiments (players) in the abandoned town. Your goal is to be the last experiment standing. To do that you will need levels, lots of levels. This is how to level fast in Eternal Return.

How Leveling Works in a Match

Let’s have a quick overview of levels in Eternal Return and how they work. If you played any MOBA game you can skip this section and go straight to the fastest ways to level in Eternal Return.

You start a match with a level 1 and one Skill Enhancement Point that allows you to upgrade a skill. While doing anything within the game you will accumulate XP and level up. Leveling increases your max HP, SP, and gives you more Skill Enhancement Points to further improve your skills.

Leveling up yourself and your skills allows you to deal much more damage and take on stronger opponents in the game. The maximum level in Eternal Return is 20 and on each character, you can upgrade 6 skills: Q, W, E, R (Ultimate), D, and Passive.

Fastest Way to Level in Eternal Return

Even though almost any action in the game will give you XP to level up you need to be efficient with your time to outlevel other players in the game. Here are some main ways to level up and a few tips and tricks to level up even faster.

Open All the Boxes You Find

Looting

There are plenty of things to loot in Eternal Return, boxes, shelves, fridges, even trees can be opened in hopes to find the materials you need. Opening each of those will grant you a set amount of XP and will help you level up faster.

However, only do this if you have time on your hands as the amount of XP given is small compared to other sources. Your primary objective when playing should be to craft all the necessary items in your build. So focus on looking for the items you need while opening everything you can.

Craft Items

Crafting

Focusing on your build path is one of the key win conditions in Eternal Return. The faster you complete the build, the sooner you can start consistently fighting other players. Along with that, crafting items for your build also helps you level very fast.

If you are not familiar with build paths, you pick one after you select your character before the start of the match. The path will take you through the locations that have the materials you need to craft items in the build. To travel quicker use the Hyperloops scattered across the map and teleport to any area.

Follow the path, collect resources and start crafting as soon as you can. The items your build needs are highlighted with a yellow triangle. Only craft those items to avoid wasting materials and falling behind in leveling.

After you are done with your build you can craft food or items of high rarity to gain extra XP. You don’t necessarily need to use them, but if you have enough to craft a purple item, go for it.

Farm Mobs like Wolves, Bears, and Boars

In Eternal Return, like in most MOBA games like League of Legends, farming mob camps is one of the best ways to level up fast. Along the way, you will encounter neutral mobs on the map. Those can be chickens, dogs, wolves, bears, bats, or boars. Their location is static and the camps reset after a set period of time after they are cleared.

There are also bigger bosses like Alpha, Omega, and the terrifying Wickeline. All of them will give you XP and rare crafting items. However, only fight them when you are of a high enough level yourself. Those guys are tough. And we mean it.

Apart from giving you the materials for crafting, each mob kill will give you a good amount of XP. But make sure that you are of a high enough level to fight some of the mobs. Bears for example are always level 6 and are nearly impossible to kill if underleveled. You will spend lots of time and healing while you could have killed a few dozens of chickens.
