The new trailer covered more details about the supernatural power of empathy that the main character uses, and how that mechanic will work in gameplay. In addition to the new super power, we’ve unraveled everything else you need to know about Life is Strange: True Colors.
Life is Strange: True Colors Story
True Colors will follow Alex Chen who moves to a fictional mining town to live with her brother, Gabe. However, after her brother dies under mysterious circumstances, Alex will uncover the secrets that this town harbors with the help of some locals, and use her empathic powers to solve the unraveling mystery.
True Colors will have similar beats to its predecessors, featuring a new soundtrack filled with songs from Phoebe Bridgers, Gabrielle Aplin and Radiohead.
Will True Colors Be Episodic?
The Life is Strange series is known for releasing episodically, similar to the way Telltale Games used to operate.
True Colors will ditch this plan and release as one, complete game. The story will still be organized into five chapters, offering a staggered progression to players.
Life is Strange: True Colors Characters
Alex is True Colors’ protagonist who has a lot on her plate after moving to be with her brother.
True Colors will present a mysterious death for Alex to solve, as well as new relationships to maintain.
Alex’s powers of empathy allows her to see people’s auras which reveal their true emotions. Alex can also absorb these feelings and change them at her will.
She views her power as a curse, like some other iconic characters with super human abilities, but the trailer showed that in order to solve her brother’s death, she must use her power to her advantage.
It is unknown how long Gabe will be in the True Colors picture for before his death, but there’s bound to be some flashback scenes too.
Steph Gingrich is a returning character from Life is Strange: Before the Storm and a possible romantic interest for Alex.
The student of Blackwell Academy is an openly queer character and she could be one of the characters to assist in Alex’s investigation.
Ryan is a town resident and friend of Alex’s brother Gabe.
He is a second, potential love interest for Alex, and they both meet inside a record store which suggests their common love for music.
Jed is Ryan’s father and will be a recurring character in True Colors.
Other residents that will make an appearance are Charlotte, Diane, Eleanor, Ethan, Mac, Pike, Reginald McAllister III, Riley and Valkyrie.
