Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6 gameplay reveal highlighted Chorizo the Sausage Dog as one of the ‘Fangs for Hire’, but what is the system and how do you use it in gameplay?

Far Cry 6 will revolve around Dani Rojas, the Libertad operatives, and the antagonists Antón and Diego Castillo, causing trouble on the Caribbean island of Yara. October 7 was announced as the sixth entry’s release date, and using the Fangs for Hire mechanic is bound to please animal lovers.

‘Fangs for Hire’ was a system introduced in Far Cry 5, similar to ‘Guns for Hire’.

Guns for Hire (GFH) allowed you to recruit companion characters that accompanied the Junior Deputy in Far Cry 5 and the Security Captain in Far Cry New Dawn. The co-op tool later went on to incorporate Robots for Hire.

Fangs for Hire continued the system with recruitable animals, which were available to tag along on collaborative missions. Having an animal with you in the wild, for example, would offer protection from wolves or bears, where the Fangs for Hire would face off against them.

In Far Cry 5, there were a handful of diverse and oddly named animals ready to become your furry companion.

The most popular sidekick was Boomer the dog, in addition to Cheeseburger the bear, and Peaches the mountain lion. Each companion had their own skills to benefit your protection, such as Boomer’s agility.

For Far Cry 6, the Fangs for Hire have been dubbed the ‘Amigos’, and will add the good boy Chorizo the Sausage Dog and Guapo the crocodile. The sixth installment will also add a Libertad Skin for Chorizo as a pre-order bonus.

All of the companions in Far Cry 5 were found in specific locations, and it was up to you to talk to people to pinpoint their location.

Boomer was located at John’s Region, Cheeseburger at Jacob’s Region, and Peaches at Faith’s Region.

Once your companions were recruited, it was necessary to make quick risk assessments and choose which companion would be beneficial in certain situations. For example, Cheeseburger was a better fit fighting against a guy with a heavy weapon.

The Fangs for Hire system in Far Cry 6 is expected to follow similar, if not the same, methods.

Can you keep Fangs for Hire as pets?

As with any pets, in real life or in-game, the better you treat them the longer they will stay with you.

All Fangs for Hire will remain loyal to you as long as you treat them well. However, treating them badly will result in them leaving you, or at least disowning you for a while.
