It isn’t the most surprising news, but a Far Cry 6 leak has confirmed that Giancarlo Esposito will play the antagonist in Ubisoft’s unannounced sequel to Far Cry 5.
Giancarlo Esposito is becoming a staple in quality television and film. He’s, simply put, a fantastic actor. You may recognise him as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad or, more recently, Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian. Better yet, he also voices Lex Luthor in the Harley Quinn animation series! Well, now there seems to be another thing you may be able to reference him from. “Y’know, that guy from… Far Cry 6?”
Far Cry 6 Leak On PlayStation Store Confirms Release Date, Too!
This seems like a little bit of a fuck-up but is undoubtedly due to scheduling changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Even still, the PlayStation Store has listed Far Cry 6 with a launch date and apparent cover imagery. The release date states that it is planned for launch on 18th February 2021. This means, as you all know, that the game will most-likely be a PlayStation 5 title!
From this leak, we also know that Esposito will play the dictator of the fictional nation Yara. This will be heavily inspired by Cuba, and it seems as though the rest of Far Cry 6’s plotline will take inspiration from the revolutionary events that occurred throughout Latin American countries throughout the latter half of the 20th Century.
“Employ makeshift weapons, vehicles, and Amigos, the new Fangs for Hire to burn the tyrannical regime to the ground”
The player will play as Dani Rojas, a local guerilla fighter. Reportedly, PlayStation 4 copies of the title will be free to upgrade to the PlayStation 5. This is assumed to be the same for Xbox users. It has been reported recently that Xbox have been attempting to dictate their demand that upgrades for games between console generations should be free.
