In the short tease, the main villain of the game, Anton Castillo, played by Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, gives a menacing monologue about sacrificing some dissidents for the greater good of the fictional country, Yara.
Far Cry 6 was first announced during the Ubisoft Forward event on July 12th of last year. The initial trailer was only cinematic and showed Anton talking to his son, Diego, on a rooftop while riots occur on the streets below. The player will step into the role of Dani, a person who joins the resistance movement in order to fight against Castillo’s tyrannical regime.
The game is set to be a major departure from the franchise since the last mainline entry. Far Cry 5 took place in the fictional region of Hope County, Montana and players had to fight against a religious cult leader. However, that was not the latest Far Cry game to come out. The latest entry in the franchise was Far Cry New Dawn which was an unofficial sequel to Far Cry 5 that took place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
The release date is not yet known but it is expected to come out sometime before September 30th of this year. It is set to release on nearly every platform under the sun including Google Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
For those who cannot wait until they get their hands on Far Cry 6, hopefully the gameplay reveal will be enough to satisfy them until the game comes out sometime later this year.
Sony also announced that the first gameplay footage for Horizon Forbidden West will be shown in a livestream tomorrow, May 27th. For all the details about that, click here.
