After today’s convincing performance against X10, FNC Mistic talks about how they prepared for future matches, how the LAN experience affects their gameplay and how many more celebratory dances he and his team have in store for us! Read here below the full interview!
Below is the full transcript, where my questions are written in bold, and Mistic’s response is written in a standard font.
personally, because there are no fans or anything, I don’t feel too affected by the lack of lan experience, but at first I did feel the excitement when I played. There was maybe a few couple of nervs in the first couple of rounds of this event, but right now it’s all good and I feel as confident as ever in moving forward in this tournament.
That was quite a dominant bouce back, how much did you enjoy being on a stage again and back to winning?
I just like being on the stage, no matter if we’re losing or winning, it’s definitly a good feeling as supposed to playing at home but it’s definitly nice to have another win under our belt and move forward to the next stage where we’ll be facing another NA team and hopefully sending them home as well.. so yeah, it’s exciting!
What do you expect from V1 as they won against team Liquid and shown more of the game in the last series?
I expect them to be on their toes and to be adaptable and I feel like they’re very similar to Europe’s playstile and for this style we’ll definitly be more prepared in order to take them out and send them home as opposed to how we played against Sentinels.
In the upper bracket you were defeated by Sentinels who are considered the favourites of the tournament, do you think you will be able to get to the final easily now that you probably won’t have to face them until the final?
It will definitly be a challenge, every team is here for a reason and I do think we have the ability to make it to the final, and if we do end up playing Sentinels in the future of this event I feel like we will definitly take the W.
A lot of people going into this tournament were kind of theorizing about some of the players on your team because you probably have the highest percentage of players that have never actually played on a big LAN, now you’re playing on LAN and you seem to be doing actually quite well especially given some of the predictions of the analyst and fans have had, how did you find this experience and why do you think you have been able to keep your cool on stage despite having zero LAN experience coming into this?
The experience is definitly.. I don’t know, you wouldn’t be able to experience anything like this unless you’ve actually have done it yourself. I’ve kept cool because I visualize it as if we’re just playing in the same room, because like there’s no crowd or anything, like cheering on you I am just able to focus on my game and play it.
What expectations do you have now about your next rival in Masters after winning this round against X10?
We’ll be playing V1 so I definitly expect a win from us, maybe a close 2-1 win, but personally I think we’ll be able to take a 2-0 win tomorrow from the boys. I’m quite confident coming into this matchup, we’ve got a good staff team behind us doing research and doing the absolute most to ensure that we perform ath the best of our abilities and we’re just happy to be here!
So far we’ve seen a lot of teams, especially NA, and EMEA, come out with that full agression, V1 today shown that they are able to use their utility and come up with their results just as much as they come out with their aggression, is there anything that you’ve seen so far from them that worries you?
Definitly like I said individually good players, I feel like they’re able to think for themselves and maybe pull a round out of the bag but it’s unlikely for them to pull one or win one. As far as it goes for the utility usage we will be doing our homework, we will be understanding how they use their utility, it will always be on the back of our thoughts and I’m generally quite excited to play against them. Looking forward to that 2-0 win tomorrow.
It’s been two days since we’ve seen you against Sentinals, you’ve had nice two day break, are you able to go into any details of what the team has done in the two days you’ve had to improve and work on anything you actually need to work on?
Withing the past two days we’ve looked back at our games and our performance and we’ve looked back on how we can improve individually. Coach Mini and Boaster have gone over it as well and they’ve come up with notes to refere back to us and we allo look individually to improve. We’ve come away from that series with a lot of positives and as well as negatives but now we’re able to improve on these negatives and move forward in this tournament.
What is the preparation process for your celebrations?
Comes the game day and we sit down as a team for breakfast and we come up with the idea for what celebrations should we do today, because in the back of our minds we always think we’re going to win and it’s a good mentality to have I think. But yeah we just come together in the morning, mostly Boaster pitches an idea and he mantioned four chairs and I was like: “oh we could do The Voice!” and then everyone thought it was a good idea. So that’s how we come up with these ideas, and expect some more in the future!
MOBA, Open World, FPS, RPG and so much more! I appreciate any game with a good story behind it! Nowdays I write articles about games and competition but also organize and manage Esport tournaments.
"Aha, 42, I knew it! Now - er, what was the question again?"
