In 2020, we will be getting a new type of Battle Pass in Fortnite called the “Annual Pass”. The Annual Pass was leaked by Lucas7Yoshi & HypeX from the 11.30 update that released today. This update is also the main Christmas update for Fortnite.
The description for the Annual Pass reads; “Purchase the 2020 Annual Pass and receive all upcoming 2020 Fortnite Battle Royale: Battle Bundles and 7 Annual Pass exclusive cosmetics. Battle Bundles unlock 25% of content in each Battle Pass instantly upon release.”
The Annual Pass is rumored to cost 7800 V-bucks, and it appears there will be 4 seasons throughout 2020. This will end up being a really good deal for players, as the Battle Bundle normally costs 2800 V-bucks to purchase. There are also 7 exclusive cosmetics too which will sweeten the deal for a lot of players.
This could be a very smart move by Epic. Offering the Annual Pass essentially helps commit a player to at least another year of playing as they’ve already pre-purchased future Battle Passes. It will be very interesting to see whether this move helps keep the player base playing over the course of 2020.
