With the European VCT Challengers about to begin, G2 VALORANT has announced this Friday the addition of Cista “keloqz“ Wassim. The French player will be the final piece in the roster overhaul that began earlier in this month.
In just a few days, this new G2 VALORANT roster will have its debut in the Open Qualifiers of the first European Challengers in the VCT Stage 3. Given their lack of success in the last two Masters, it will be all or nothing for the team if they want to have a shot in Masters: Berlin and possibly qualify for VALORANT Champions.
While Keloqz has achieved some success in the French scene, this opportunity with G2 will mean that the youngster will have some big shoes to fill in the biggest stage of VALORANT competition.
On June 2nd, G2 VALORANT unveiled a number of changes, with Patryk “PaTiTek” Fabrowski, Ardis “Ardiis” Svarenieks and Aleksander “Zeek” Zygmunt all being dropped from the team, kicking off a European shuffle that involved Acend and Team Heretics.
To replace them, the organisation soon revealed a trio of signings in Žygimantas “Nukkye” Chmieliauskas, Auni “AvovA” Chahade and Jose Luis “koldamenta” Aranguren.
With Koldamenta taking over the In-Game Leader role, the squad looked sealed and ready to take on this new phase of the VALORANT Champions Tour.
However, some lacklustre results with this line-up in some minor tournaments ahead of the Riot-sponsored circuit may have dictated the need of some additional changes in the roster.
Jacob “pyth” Mourujärvi was next in the chopping block, with the Swedish player finding himself on the bench and allowed to explore other opportunities outside of the Berlin based organisation.
With this change Óscar “mixwell” Cañellas will now be the only player left from the original G2 VALORANT squad that dominated the European region in the early stages of the game’s competitive scene.
