G2 Gets Revenge on TL in the Opening Game of the Second Round-Robin – Worlds 2020

Updated:

The LEC team dominated in the opening game of Day 5, breaking the doubts arisen from the loss against TL in their last clash. Absolute protagonist was Wunder: he’s showing everyone that he’s a world-class player.

G2 vs TL – Draft – New Picks

Similar to what happened in their first encounter ( won by TL ), the two teams focused their bans on the respective comfort picks: in particular, jungler’s champion pools were targeted. ( Nidalee, Lee Sin, Graves & Kindred all banned )
G2 took advantage of their red side counter pick as they gave Volibear to Jankos & last picked Sylas for Wunder.

G2’s top laner is becoming one of the shining points of this roster: an immense champion pool with equal dominance against everyone is making him one of the best players in this tournament.

G2 vs TL – Game – What a Dominance

With G2 winning draft on paper, things got even worse for TL. The team’s playstyle is usually to wait for their items to come up & scale towards late game: the more they can stall & drag the game, the higher the chances of winning. Wunder & his team, however, gave no chance to NA’s seed. Picking up first blood & executing almost to perfection any plan ( from dives to teamfights ), G2 was in complete control from the get-go. The Sylas pick was just the cherry on the top: stealing on the strong ultimates from the enemies, he single-handedly carried the fights which broke around the map.
At around 20 minutes, a 7k gold lead split the two teams, as G2 continued to open the map even more. There wasn’t an instance where TL looked like they could come back from that. Two last desperate teamfights marked the end of a very one-sided game, with G2 looking reinvigorated, as they will fight against Suning for 1st place in Group A. TL, on the other hand, will most likely face elimination as things will get really hard for them…

Today the whole Group A will be decided, so make sure to stay tuned for further results. If you enjoyed our content, follow us on Twitter and Instagram to have the latest gaming news.
