Gamers Without Borders - CSGO

It was recently announced that CS:GO will be the fifth Gamers Without Borders charity event, aimed at supporting the fight against COVID 19.

On their website, they outline their objectives to bring together, “One global community, united in the fight against COVID-19. Gamers Without Borders is a worldwide competition with $10 million prize fund, all for charity!”

Adding that the events will be, “Taking place over seven electrifying weeks, amateur and elite players alike will compete in one-off tournaments in esports’ most thrilling titles. Each week, the winners will donate their share of the $10million prize pool to a selection of charities fighting on the front line against the spread of coronavirus – with every second of the action broadcast live.”

The first four events consisted of other esports titles such as: PUBG Mobile, Rainbow Six Siege, Dota 2 and Fortnite. The fifth event being CS:GO, is set to take place on May 29-31.

Six teams from the CIS and European regions have been invited to take part in this event, as the event will take place online. The teams that will be competing are:

  • Natus Vincere
  • Fnatic
  • mousesports
  • G2
  • Faze
  • OG

Out of the six teams participating, only one of these teams is ranked higher than ten in the HLTV world rankings, that team being OG. With four of the teams being inside the top five, this is quite a stacked event.

The sixth and final event in the Gamers Without Borders campaign has yet to be announced but will take place from June 5-7, so look out for that.
