Google Stadia is going to be free to all during the next two months. If you are unfamiliar with Stadia, it is Google’s video game streaming service. It launched a few months back and bombed pretty severely, but the underlying technology is pretty cool. Cloud-based gaming is the future, so it might be worth checking out Stadia while it is free.
The version of Stadia that Google is making free is the Pro version. This membership typically costs $9.99 per month and gets you access to several games. Currently, those games include Grid, Destiny 2: The Collection, Thumper, Gylt, Serious Sam Collection, Spitlings, Stacks on Stacks (on Stacks), SteamWorld Dig 2, and SteamWorld Quest.
If you were interested in Stadia at any point, want to check out the “next-generation” of game streaming, or need something to pass the time, I recommend giving Stadia a shot while it is free.
It is important to note that if you are already a Stadia Pro member, your fees will be waived over the next two months. Additionally, Stadia allows you to purchase games through their store to stream. Any purchases you make will stay attached to your account whether or not you decide to move forward after the free period.
It is great to see services go free during this trying time to help us all stay sane. Whether this is a genuinely kind gesture in a trying time or a marketing ploy for a failing service, I appreciate Google letting us all try their Stadia Pro service.
