Take-Two is probably best known for the Grand Theft Auto & Red Dead Redemption series, both developed by Rockstar. It’s understandable, considering GTA 5 is the biggest selling entertainment property of all time, having grossed over $6 billion in revenue. But GTA 5 was released in 2013, and nearly 7 years later, there has been no hint of GTA 6 being on the horizon.
Take-Two President Karl Slatof said in an earnings call that they had 93 “full game releases” in development to be released in the next 5 years. Yes, 93…that is a lot of games.
63 of those will be “core gaming experiences”, with 17 being “mid-core or arcade”, and 13 are casual games. 72 of the 93 will be on console, PC and/or streaming platforms, while the rest will be mobile. There has been no word as to what these 93 games might be, but it is likely one of those will be GTA 6.
With 7 years since the latest release, it is likely that one is in active development. It was 5 years between GTA 4 and GTA 5, but with game development getting more complex as tech improves, it is understandable that a game of this magnitude would take so long to produce. It’s also been nearly 9 years since the last Elder Scrolls game, and a new one hasn’t been announced.
