After making their appearance in the first Grand Theft Auto game, Liberty City, Vice City & San Andreas were the featured city of the 3 PS2 era GTA games. Liberty City was once again revisited in GTA 4 in 2008, followed by San Andreas in 2013, leaving Vice City as the only city without another game being set in it, excluding the Stories series of games. We may have just gotten the first hint that GTA 6 could be taking place in sunny Vice City.
An eagle-eyed Reddit user recently noticed that Take-Two Interactive has recently updated domain names for GTAViceCityOnline.com and GTAVI.com, potentially hinting at the location of GTA 6. It is possible that this is just a case of general house keeping; after all, if you don’t use it, you lose it. If they let the domains expire then someone will be sure to snap them up. But with the other 2 cities being used in the previous 2 games, it does seem likely the game will return to Vice City, whenever that may be. GTA 5 was released way back in 2013, but with yet another port coming next year on the Playstation 5, it doesn’t seem like Rockstar & Take-Two are ready to let the dead horse rest.
GTA Vice City was originally released back in 2002 on the Playstation 2, followed by ports on PC & Xbox shortly after, then mobile devices in later years. The game was a smash hit, gaining a 95/100 score on Metacritic. Vice City also has a fairly impressive cast, including the likes of Jenna Jameson, Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds, Danny Dyer, Deborah Harry & Lawrence Taylor.
With the PS5 port of GTA 5 coming in early 2021, it is likely that the earliest we may see GTA 6 is a few years into the next-gen life cycle, so it might be worth giving the original another playthrough in the mean time.
