GTA Online Offline Alongside Red Dead Online In Support of Black Lives Matter.
Via Twitter, @RockstarSupport and @RockstarGames have announced that they will be shutting down access to both GTA Online and Red Dead Online for two hours to honor the legacy of George Floyd. This is also in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, and all those who have died at the hands of systemic racism globally.
From 14:00 to 16:00 ET, both will be shut down. This equates to 18:00 to 20:00 GMT and 11:00 to 13:00 PT. This is in relation to the developing protests that are taking place across America and the world.
The protests are always ongoing, as the situation African Americans and Black People face across the world is sadly not improving. The intensity has increased in relation to George Floyd’s murder. Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer during his arrest. Floyd’s peaceful co-operation didn’t mean anything. The officer was pinning him to the floor with a knee to his neck.
Both Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 and Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 has also been postponed. This has been done in support of the movement. Game publishers and developers are also postponing any planned events.
