Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy is Coming to Fortnite

Aloy, the protagonist in Sony’s hit PlayStation franchise, Horizon Zero Dawn, is coming to Fortnite in the form of a new playable skin and some additional cosmetic items. She will be playable starting on April 15th.

The other cosmetic items include the Blaze Canister Back Bling, Aloy’s Spear Pickaxe, Glinthawk Glider, Shield-Weaver Wrap, the Heart-rizen Emote, and Aloy the Skywatcher Loading Screen. All of these are available for purchase individually except for the loading screen which is only a part of the Aloy cosmetic bundle.

Additionally, Fortnite players on PS5 will unlock another outfit for Aloy called the Ice Hunter Aloy style. This was similar to when Kratos from God of War and Master Chief from the Halo series came to Fortnite; players on next-gen systems were able to unlock an additional outfit for the iconic characters.

A limited time mode will also be introduced to capitalize on Aloy’s arrival. Called, Team Up!, the mode is a duos game type in which the two teammates will be randomly assigned to either Aloy or Lara Croft skins and they can only use the craftable bow for Aloy and Lara’s dual pistols in order to win. That mode will come to Fortnite a day after Aloy arrives, on April 16th.

Aloy arriving in Fortnite is not surprising given the litany of other pop culture icons in the game from completely different franchises, universes, and companies. Given that it was also announced that Sony just invested another $200 million, on top of last year’s $250 million, into Epic Games, it appears the two companies will continue having their strong relationship for a long time.

With Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy coming to Fortnite it will be exciting to see what other pop culture icon Epic Games can bring into the metaverse.
