The Cycle: Frontier is a hardcore looter shooter in which if you die, you lose almost all the stuff you brought with you. Everyone, including the developers, realizes that it can drain your resources very quickly which is why they’ve added an insurance feature. This is all you need to know about the insurance in The Cycle: Frontier.

How to Insure Items in The Cycle: Frontier
Before starting an expedition you will be offered to insure your items. Simply, drag and drop items from your inventory to an insurance window you want: Gear Salvage or Standard Insurance.
- Gear Salvage: This allows you to get the item itself back if it wasn’t looted by the enemy. If it was you will get an alternative compensation in K-Marks. Costs Aurum or Insurance Tokens.
- Standard Insurance: You pay K-Marks to get more K-Marks back in case you lose the item.
Below each section, you will find a price you need to pay to insure the items and continue, as well as the maximum payout at the top that you will get if you lose the insured item.
Note that insurance will nullify if:
- You throw away the item
- Your team loots your item
- You modify your item (change attachments)
Not all the items can be insured. You can ensure equipment including weapons, gear, and mineral scanner but you can’t insure ammo, stims, or any resources.
How to Claim Insurance
After you die on Fortuna III and lose your insured items you will need to claim your insurance payout. It’s not given out automatically, instead, you have to claim it yourself manually for each failed expedition.
To claim your insurance package head to the income generator at your quarters. The fourth tab in the generator is your insurance package. You can click on “More Details” to see all the insurance packages you have at the moment. Note that the limit is 20 and they do not appear instantly, it takes time for each package to be issued to you.
Is Insurance Worth It?
Short answer: Yes, the insurance is absolutely worth its investment in The Cycle: Frontier. Standard insurance is a must for any of the items you take with you and can insure. Because you will always get more money back than you spent on insurance.
The payout gives back 50% worth of the insured item’s buy price. So for example, an AR-55 Autorifle costs 1,700 K-Marks to buy. The cost of insuring is 340 K-Marks and the payout is 850 K-Marks. And most importantly, insured items stay insured if you evac, so you don’t have to spend money to insure them again.
Gear Salvage kind of insurance is pretty useless on the other hand. It’s highly unlikely that the player who killed you will not loot you. Why did he kill you then? You will be much better saving Aurum or spending it on Fortuna Pass or in-game cosmetics.
But to insure something, you first need that “something”. There is tons of loot and equipment for you to choose from and here are a few guides to keep your inventory in order:
