What Does Becoming an Immortal Mean in Diablo Immortal
In the story, the Queen of Sanctuary created an eternal crown for her son, the first Immortal, to protect the land from Hell. To ensure Immortals are worthy, a council of Shadows was created that constantly tests Immortals in battle and takes their place if they defeat them.
While this might sound “controversial,” not all players that play Diablo Immortal to the maximum level will become Immortal. It’s not a requirement to have the best loot or be the strongest player.
Becoming Immortal is the main attraction of the PvP in Diablo Immortal. If you do manage to hit the Immortal ladder, your name also gets forever embedded in stone in the Hall of Immortals on your specific server, forever.
To elaborate on this, Immortals are the top 10 clans in the PvP ladder of the game. They must constantly fight Shadow Clans (we’ll get to them in a second) to keep their spots as Immortals. So if PvP is not your thing, look for PvE content like dungeons or Hidden Lairs.
How to Become Immortal in Diablo Immortal
There are a few ways to become an Immortal, and a few are very easy. Let’s take it step by step. You first need to know that you need level 43 to be able to join a clan. The mission that gives you access to this feature is a mandatory story mission, so don’t worry; you will not miss it.
Get an Invite
To get it out of the way, the easiest method to become an Immortal is to know someone in an Immortal clan and convince them to invite you. Because the only condition to get invited into clans is reaching level 43, this can be abused to a certain extent. This is, however, an ideal scenario that will likely not happen to you.
Join a Shadow Clan
The most realistic way for players to become Immortal is to join Shadow clans. Shadow clans are actively looking for members, so try to join one that fits your needs. From playtime to play style, it’s always better to synergize with your teammates. If your Shadow Clan overthrows the Immortals, you will take their place in the ranking.
You will gain bonuses based on your rank when you are in a Shadow clan. The higher the rank, the more significant the bonus. To raise your rank you have to complete daily quests and activities.
Activities include: Raiding the Vault, Shadow Contracts, Battleground, and Path of Blood. More will unlock as you level up. Do your part in your clan and you will surely find success.
There is also a meeting of shadow members that happens every day (except for Sunday) where you can get excellent buffs from the Queen of Sanctuary.
Become a Shadow via Lottery
If you speak to the Mysterious Patron every few hours, you can enter a lottery. If you are picked, you will begin a unique questline. Completing it grants you Shadowclan status for a cycle. As a bonus, you also get a free invite for a friend. You still have to join or form a Shadow clan and defeat the Immortals to overthrow them, though.
How Shadow Clans Defeat Immortals
To defeat Immortals, Shadow clans must first fight amongst themselves. To do this, you have to enter the Shadow Wars. In the Shadow Wars, the clans will fight against each other in split battles between the clan members and an AI Immortal to boot.
If you win in the Shadow Wars and place in the top 10 on your server, you will have the chance to enter the Rite of Exile. Eight chosen players from a Shadow Clan will fight in PvP battles against 8 Immortal players in this mode.
If you manage to do well in this mode, a final phase of the Rite of Exile will begin, where the top 3 players from each Shadow clan will take on BOTH the top 3 Immortals AND other Shadow clans in a battle royale-style mode.
The clan that wins will become the Immortal Leader.
To have the best chance at becoming an Immortal, make sure you join an active clan with many members that do their part in leveling up the guild. The more members, the easier it is to level up. However, even if other players have better stats and participate in the fight, you will also become an Immortal as long as you are in the clan.
