DayZ is still a lot of fun thanks to its deep gameplay. Newly added content keeps the game fresh. We are on one of those mechanics. Today we’ve got you covered with how to build a flag pole in DayZ – with details on where to find flags and what materials you’ll need.

If you complain about losing your in-game items, you’ll get rid of this problem completely at the end of this guide. Because that’s exactly what flagpoles do in DayZ. When properly built and flagged, they protect all items within a 60-meter radius from being lost for a certain amount of time.

How to Build Flagpoles in DayZ

You’ll need a lot of materials for this structure, which you must build to protect your belongings. When you finish building the flagpole, you’ll need to find a flag to hang there. It’s a lot of work, so let’s get started.

Materials you’ll need to build a Flagpole in DayZ:

  • 3 x Small Wooden Sticks
  • 1 x Rope
  • 10 x Wooden Logs
  • 1 x Metal Wire
  • 60 x Nails
  • 32 x Large Stones

Apart from these materials, you will need the following tools:

  • A Shovel or Pickaxe
  • A Hammer or Hatchet
  • 2 Sledgehammers

When you’re sure you’ve gathered all the materials and have the tools, we can start building. First we’ll make the Flag Pole Kit.

Flag Pole Kit:

This kit is very easy to make. Take all your materials with you and follow the steps below:

  1. Combine 3 small wooden sticks with a rope.
  2. Take out the kit and deploy frame for your Flag Pole.
  3. Once the deploying process is complete, attach a wooden log to the frame.
  4. Use your sledgehammer and build your Flag Pole base.

Your Flagpole now has a solid base on which to stand. The second step is to build support.

Support:

Although the support is easy to make, it’ll take a lot of time to transport the materials.

  1. Attach 6 wooden logs to the base.
  2. Then, attach all 32 large stones to the base. You can use a pickaxe or sledgehammer to get these stones from boulders.
  3. And finally, use your shovel or pickaxe on base and finish your support.

After we’ve built the ground and support, we can build the Flag Pole as the final step.

Flag Pole:

Now that we’ve completed the most tedious part of the work, we can come to the end of the construction. Follow the steps below in order:

  1. Attach the last 3 wooden logs to the support/base.
  2. Then attach rope, metal wore and 60 nails in the order you want.
  3. Finally, complete the construction with the help of an hatchet or hammer.

That’s it. You can build the Flag Pole in DayZ if you follow these steps. But we’re not done yet, now you need to find the flag you want to hang.

Where to Find Flags in DayZ

After the latest updates, DayZ has a total of 30 flags. You can’t craft these flags, so you’ve to find them on the map. Flags often spawn on office buildings, busses, schools or wrecks. If you wander around these areas, you can easily find flags.

When you find a flag, you can hang it on the pole you just built. Remember that your flag will be taken down automatically after 45 days. You’ll have to manually raise it again, of course, if you want to keep your stuff.
