How to Get Gem Fragment in Diablo Immortal

Updated:

When introducing Legendary Gems, Diablo Immortal will also introduce you to the Gem upgrade material called Gem Fragment. What the game won’t tell you is how to get more of them once the initial ones you got are spent. This is how to get Gem Fragment in Diablo Immortal and it is much easier than you might think.

What is Gem Fragment in Diablo Immortal?

When you just start playing Diablo Immortal, the game will introduce you to Gems. Gems are a key part of maxing out your character, build and combat rating. Along with just Gems, the game will show you how to upgrade them at the Apprentice Jeweler.

Gem Fragments are a material that you can use to provide the gem necessary power for the upgrade. Your first upgrade will require you to use five Gem Fragments that you will be given to increase the Legendary Gem’s rank. Further upgrades will require more Gem Fragments and sometimes even specific Legendary Gems.

However, after that first upgrade, you will not have any more Gem Fragments and the question is where and how to get more of them?

Getting Gem Fragments is much easier than you may think. You don’t have to farm them or acquire them in any way possible. Gem Fragments are obtained as an excess material when using other Legendary Gems for a Gem upgrade.

When you get spare Legendary Gems and you press the button to add Gem Fragments you will see not only Gem Fragments but other Legendary Gems that you can use for the upgrade. Each Legendary Gem you have is worth a certain amount of Gem Power. The higher the rank and the rarity, the more power it will give to your upgrade.

The confusing part is that the game shows a Gem Fragment as a required resource when it actually isn’t. And when you don’t have other Gems it becomes confusing. You can use other Gems instead of the Gem Fragments and if you have provided more power than needed, the excess will be returned as Gem Fragments. Those Gem Fragments can be used along with more Gems you will get to upgrade the ones you need.
