How to Get Inspired in Sims 4

Updated:

Sims 4 is a life simulation video game popular for its playable characters with complex personalities and emotions. Sims can experience a wide range of emotions that determine the kind of lifestyle they lead and the relationships they build with other Sims.

You can also build homes, neighborhoods, and cities in Sims 4. There are multiple end-goals to Sims 4, one of which is taking your family through ten generations.

Many players choose a creative pursuit for their Sim, such as the career of an artist, musician, or writer. More conventional career paths require grinding for up-leveling in skill, but creative careers are most effective when the Sim is inspired. If you’re wondering how to get inspired in Sims 4, we’ve put together a guide on the multiple ways you can do so.

There is no one correct way to get your Sim inspired in Sims 4, but you can try a few different techniques to help your Sim arrive at an inspired mood. These methods include organic in-game and using cheat codes for a shortcut.

Five Ways to Get Your Sim Inspired in Sims 4

Inspired is just one of the emotions that fills your Sim’s life with color. Sims experience a range of emotions: from happy to sad to jealous to flirty. These emotions give them a boost while interacting with other Sims. Making your Sim perform tasks following their mood ensures that they give their best in everything they do.

Inspired Sims garner more success in their creative pursuits, regardless of whether they are mixologists, painters, or novelists. In turn, creating better art keeps them in a happier mood as they level up, further increasing the chances of staying Inspired.

Choose a Creative Trait for your Sim

You’ll have to choose between four core traits when you’re creating your Sim for the first time. It’s important to pay attention to the Traits you choose for your Sim since these largely define their core personality.

Reward traits can be added later on as you level up in the game, but they are additional and not core traits.

While all Sims can get Inspired, choosing a ‘Creative’ trait as a Core Trait for your Sim means that they will often get inspired. This allows them to create better art and pursue their creative interests.

Indulge in Inspiring Activities

One of the best ways for your Sim to get inspired is by surrounding themselves with inspiring activities to get their creative juices flowing. Inspiring activities are not a guaranteed way to get Inspired, but they definitely increase the chances of it happening.

Remember, your Sim has to be happy to get Inspired. If your Sim is Embarrassed or Moody, it’s a good idea to try to cheer them up before getting them inspired. You can cheer them up by letting them eat a good meal, meet a friend or pursue a hobby.

Here are some of the best inspiring activities to get your Sim to do. It’s always a better idea to alternate between activities rather than making your Sim repeatedly perform the same activity as they can get bored.

Look at Art on their Computer

Browsing art on their computer is one of the best ways for your Sim to get inspired, particularly if they are an artist. However, all Creative sims will benefit from browsing through art. Your Sim will need a computer, desk, and chair to do this activity.

Listen to a Child’s Make-Believe Story

Children and Teenagers often get inspired after coming home from school, and it’s a great way to make your Sim bond with their children. Sims will often get inspired watching their young one’s minds grow.

Have a Cappucino at a Cafe

This works only when your Sim meets up with a friend or date (Get Together). The riveting conversation is an excellent way for your Sim to get inspired and is a good way for them to take a break from their creative pursuits.

Note: Child sims are easier to get into an Inspired mood. You can easily get a child Sim inspired by making them Daydream or play with a Large Animal Toy. Teenage Sims will often get inspired in school, making it ideal for working on creative hobbies once they return.

Take a Thoughtful Shower

There’s not much that a hot shower can’t fix, and Sims 4 is no exception. Your Sim is very likely to get Inspired after Taking a Thoughtful Shower, particularly if their hygiene level was low to begin with.

Once you travel to a nearby bathroom, you can click on a Shower cubicle to get a few options. You’ll see a Brisk Shower, Steamy Shower, Speedy Shower, and Thoughtful Shower. Make sure you select Thoughtful Shower for the best results in getting your Sim inspired.

You will get the best results if your Sim takes a Thoughtful Shower when their hygiene level is low. Although, showers can be taken however often you wish. The chances of your Sim getting inspired take a hit if your shower isn’t working properly or requires some plumbing to be done.

Your Creative Sim will also get inspired more often in a better quality shower, so it might be worth investing in a more expensive shower to get your Sim inspired ever so often.

Make your Sim engage in Self-Inspired Skills

A surefire way to get your Sim inspired is to make them engage in an inspiration-boosting act. You can do this by getting your Sim to practise their musical instrument for inspiration, and it will almost always end up with your Sim in a high-level Inspired mood.

Here’s the catch: this activity is only for sims with Musical Instrument skills. Even if your Creative Sim is a Writer or Chef, they will have to play their musical instruments to get inspired. You cannot use this method on your Sim if they do not own a Musical Instrument or have a very basic level of skill.

Your Sim can get inspired by practicing their guitar, piano, or violin. Simply have your Sim approach the musical instrument and select the correct option corresponding to the instrument.

For guitars, the creative option will be called ‘strum’, ‘plonk’ for pianos and ‘bow’ for violins.

If you have installed the Sims 4 Vampires extension pack, you will also be able to engage in this activity on your Sim’s Pipe Organ.

Furthermore, the entire activity takes longer than other activities. However, your Sim will enjoy an Inspired mood for eight in-game hours.

If your Sim does not own any Musical Instruments, you can still get your Sim to engage in activities in which they have a high skill level. This will, in turn, increase their chances of getting Inspired or very Inspired.
