Silk is an important commodity in ARK: Survival Evolved, and we’re here to show you exactly how to get it efficiently.

What is Silk in ARK: Survival Evolved?

Silk is a common rarity resource that was added to ARK: Survival Evolved as part of the Scorched Earth DLC in 2016. It is vital in the crafting process of things like a Tent, Whip, and Desert Cloth Armor.

Silk also plays an important part in your journey in ARK: Survival Evolved, as it will serve you as an essential resource during the earlier stages of your playthrough.

There are two types of flowers that can you can harvest silk from. One of these flowers is white, and the other is a plain purple flower that covers the ground instead of sprouting up.

These two flowers can be encountered in deserts, with the white flowers usually being located near dry river beds.

As for the purple flowers – the location for these varies depending on the map you’re playing (lakes, fields).

You can simply use a sickle in order to harvest them. Furthermore, it’s a good idea to tame a Therizinosaurus, which will help you harvest Silk more efficiently.

The Lymantrias can also drop Silk when killed in ARK.

Another solid way of acquiring silk is by killing Lymantrias, which are also known as Desert Moths. Upon killing them, it is recommended to harvest their bodies with either a Sabertooth or Hatchet.

The docile Gacha creature can also occasionally drop Gacha crystals as they roam around the world, and these sometimes contain silk as well.

Silk is crucial in ARK due to it being one of the main components in crafting a Whip, which is essential for taming in general. It has a stack size of 200, and can also be found in White or Green Supply Crates. In addition to the Gacha and Therizinosaurus, both the Gigantopithecus and Pachyrhinosaurus are also good silk gatherers.

Getting the resource is pretty straight-forward in ARK. The steps aren’t all that hard either, and with the right methods, you can gather a lot of Silk.
