How to Join Friends in Ready or Not

Updated:

The entire Ready or Not experience largely revolves around teamwork. You can choose to play alone and rely on your AI squadmates, but having friends to play with elevates every aspect of this game. That is why you need to know how to join your friends in Ready or Not.

Since it’s still in early release, we expect the community to grow even more than it already has, allowing for more friend groups to join in on the fun. Today’s guide will focus on how you can quickly join your friends’ lobby in Ready or Not, and how you can make a lobby for your friends to join.

How to Join Friends via Steam

Ready or Not was released exclusively for Steam, and the only real way for you to join your friends would be through your Steam friend list.

Moving on, make sure to add your chosen squadmate as a friend on Steam, as you won’t be able to invite him if they aren’t on your Steam friend list. Also, you’ll need to have your Steam Overlay enabled so that you can join games without alt-tabbing. With that being said, here’s how you can join your friends in Ready or Not:

  1. Open your Steam Client.
  2. Add your friends on Steam via the “Friends & Chat” tab.
  3. Launch Ready or Not.
  4. Open the Steam Overlay (Shift+Tab) when you get to the Main Menu.
  5. Find your friend/s and right-click on their name.
  6. Click “Join Game” to enter your friends’ lobby.

Now you know how to join your friends in Ready or Not. Keep in mind that the people you are trying to join need to create a multiplayer lobby. People won’t be able to join someone in a single-player lobby. Creating a lobby for multiplayer purposes is simple, and we’ll cover it separately.

How to Create a Lobby in Ready or Not

If you want to be the host and invite your friends, then you’ll have to create a multiplayer lobby. There are two types of multiplayer lobbies – public and friends-only lobbies.

A public lobby will allow random people to join your lobbies via the ‘Find Session’ option in the main menu. Friends-only lobbies are strictly for friends, and they act as invite-only sessions. Here are some steps that will help newcomers create a lobby:

  1. Open your Steam Client.
  2. Add your friends on Steam via the “Friends & Chat” tab.
  3. Launch Ready or Not.
  4. Press “Play” in the Main Menu.
  5. Create a public or friends-only lobby for Co-op/Multiplayer.
  6. Wait for your game to load.
  7. Once you load into the headquarters, open your Steam Overlay (Shift+Tab).
  8. Find your friend/s and right-click on their name.
  9. Press “Invite to Lobby” and it’ll automatically invite them to your lobby.

Not many people know how to do this, but it’s pretty simple when explained properly. If you don’t really have any friends that you can join for a game of Ready or Not, then there’s another solution that lets you play with other people.

How to Find a Random Public Lobby

As it currently stands, Ready or Not hasn’t still fully hit the mainstream gaming market due to being in early access. This could be why your friends or friend groups haven’t heard about it yet. Still, even if your friends don’t play it, there is an easy way for you to find random public lobbies online.

The easiest way for you to find a public lobby would be to use the “Find Session” feature in the Main Menu. This will automatically put you into a public lobby created by someone random online. Although simple, this feature is a lifesaver for those that can’t play Ready or Not with their friends but need an actual team.
